We stayed for 4 nights recently and was by far our favorite hotel from our 12 night trip in Italy. . . We got into our room and were astounded by the seemingly 15 foot ceilings and probably 8 foot high windows! We ended up in a 2 room suite that also had a sleeper sofa in an upstairs loft, so between the living room, loft, and bedroom it was effectively a 3 room suite for less than $300/night!

The location and view are also not to be missed! The tower and terrace have spectacular views of the Duomo and Piazza Della Signoria. You are also very close to the Ponte Vecchio and less than a 10 min walk from tons of delicious restaurants, shopping, and the best sites in the city.

When I make it back to Florence I will be staying here again!

Google should review this listing. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. This isn't up for debate or personal interpretation. This place is a dump. The photos are not representative. Our bathroom is actually in one of the photos, albeit with maximum Photoshop work. This hotel is run down and completely without services. There is no room service and no one answers the phone at the front desk. And there are no irons. The reason for this is that they are a historical building. Other historic buildings have set up rooms for ironing, but not here. No prior notice that they are missing a standard amenity. I had to go out and buy a new shirt for my wedding anniversary dinner. They refused to give us the remote for the air conditioner so we had to sleep with windows open and were bitten by bugs every night we stayed. And whatever you do, refuse to stay in room 301. It is in the only hallway to the breakfast room and to the tower so for hours every morning and in the early evening you have most of the residents walking by your (not at all soundproofed) door. Having a decent place to stay, and being able to trust online listings when booking, are a significant part of any trip. Our trip was worse for having stayed here.

We just stayed here recently for 3 nights. The location is excellent because you are close to everything the center of Florence has to offer. We were able to walk everywhere we needed including the train station. I think this great location is part of why our stay was so noisy and uncomfortable unfortunately. I know it’s not the hotel fault, but our room was on the 1st floor and we struggled every night and morning to sleep through the noise of men in the streets yelling and the worst was the continuous sound of very large carts being pushed over the cobblestone street next to our window. The market vendors store their carts full of items in the building next to our room’s alleyway so from 6AM to 11PM you hear them pushing the loud carts back and forth. I wore ear plugs and still could hear it. There were no other rooms we could be switched to as I asked. Staff was nice but this noise combined with the hot stuffy room made it miserable for us at night. The breakfast is a nice treat and we really enjoyed that every morning. The hotel tower has an amazing view and we enjoyed aperitivo on the tower. Lastly, our room was not one pictured on the website so I was surprised it was so small with no fan or AC(it was constantly cold there so that is why no AC, but with our family having allergies and asthma we really needed some airflow in the room and despite us being from a hot climate we were hot). The room was very small and old fashioned. It reminded me of staying in my grandparents bedroom lol.

One of the last stays on a 13 day trip through Italy. Accommodations, location, and breakfast was the best of the entire trip.

Lookout tower is a must, to see a quick glance of the surroundings if not climbing the Duomo.

Will look to book here again on the next trip to Florence.

As others have mentioned, the location, tower view, and staff are all great. I would like to highlight the hotel’s breakfast because it actually has options for vegans. Each morning, we had vegan croissants, granola with fresh fruit and soy milk (just ask for it from the coffee bar), and a salad with fresh marinated tomatoes, romaine, and cucumbers. I know hotel breakfasts usually don't bother to serve their vegan guests, so hopefully this will
help other travelers!

Freddo, rumoroso, vetusto, inospitale.

Super Lage, toller Turm!

Title: Experiencing the Historic Charm of Hotel Torre Guelfa in Florence, Italy

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Torre Guelfa during my four-night visit to Florence, Italy. Nestled in the heart of this enchanting city, the hotel promised a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Here's a detailed review of my experience:

Location:
Hotel Torre Guelfa boasts an unbeatable location in the historic center of Florence. Situated just a stone's throw away from iconic landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery, the hotel offers easy access to the city's most renowned attractions. Additionally, its proximity to quaint cafes, lively piazzas, and bustling markets immerses guests in the vibrant Florentine atmosphere.

Ambiance and Decor:
Stepping into Hotel Torre Guelfa feels like stepping back in time, as the property exudes a palpable sense of history and character. Housed in a beautifully restored medieval tower, the hotel's interior features a harmonious blend of period furnishings, antique artwork, and elegant decor. The lobby's vaulted ceilings and ornate frescoes create an atmosphere of grandeur, while the cozy lounge areas provide inviting spaces to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.

Accommodations:
My accommodations at Hotel Torre Guelfa surpassed expectations in terms of both comfort and style. I stayed in a deluxe room, which was impeccably appointed with plush furnishings, rich fabrics, and tasteful decor. The room offered modern amenities such as air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable stay. The highlight, however, was undoubtedly the breathtaking views of the cityscape and the Arno River from the room's windows, providing a picture-perfect backdrop to my stay.

Service:
The staff at Hotel Torre Guelfa epitomized warm Italian hospitality, going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay for guests. From the moment of arrival, I was greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism, and throughout my stay, the staff remained attentive, courteous, and eager to assist with any inquiries or requests. Whether arranging restaurant reservations, providing insider tips on local attractions, or simply engaging in friendly conversation, the staff's dedication to guest satisfaction was evident at every turn.

Dining:
While Hotel Torre Guelfa does not have an on-site restaurant, it does offer a delightful breakfast service served in a charming dining room overlooking the hotel's picturesque courtyard. The breakfast buffet featured an array of freshly baked pastries, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, seasonal fruits, and delectable Italian specialties, ensuring a delicious start to each.

The hotel is in an excellent location, just 2 blocks from the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchia, and only a 10 minute walk to the Galleria dell’Academia and Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. There were several leather markets close to the hotel, and the breakfast service was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the hotel website specified that there is an elevator, but didn’t say that there isn’t a lift for the Tower House, so we had to haul our heavy bags upstairs, with no offer to help with luggage. If I had known that, I probably wouldn’t have booked that room. I would also say that the beds weren’t the least comfortable of my trip, but they weren’t the best either. If I were to book again, I would choose one of the rooms in the main hotel.

Firenze.

Staff sempre gentile e cortese.

The downfall here was only our room experience and should not negatively impact others as staff were very kind and eager to help. The quality of the rooms was laid out well in The Tower House (rear apartment). The not so good things FOR US were as follows: 1) location for walking with luggage is a BAD IDEA without a taxi due to the streets with rolling/pulling bags on it but the sheer sweat to get to the location too; 2) having to hand carry luggage up a flight of stairs in Tower House without use of an elevator...not terrible honestly but not something for everyone; 3) We had some minor plumbing issues but again it was resolved quickly by the staff (included a stopped up sink in the front bathroom and a shower nozzle to change from the spray handle to the rain fall water up top...only the spray handle would work unless force was used to pull the stopper/knob in front of you. This was the rear bathroom at Tower House.) 4) beds weren't great for comfort but we ironically still slept well...perhaps from being tired as Florence was a few days in to our multi-city trip.

The staff were amazing and helpful in every way.

The view from the top of the hotel is a MUST SEE. It was also romantic. I would see during daytime and evening. There is seating up there so you could go to the restaurant next door to the left of the hotel, get a bottle of wine and take some of the hotel's plastic cups up with you.

Overall, it was a relatively pleasant stay.

We just returned from a great stay at the Torre Guelfa. The hotel is well placed with most of the main tourist attractions only a short walk away. We had a family room and it was a good size with two rooms. Staff were warm and helpful, particularly the team at breakfast who were very attentive and the breakfast provided was of a high quality. The room and the hotel overall was spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay there again if visiting Florence.

Amazing hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, great location. Very close to main tourist attraction and lots of places something to eat. Local supermarket just 7 min away. Delicious breakfast, pastry upper level and very tasty. Great view from the top of the hotel tower. Also very quiet at night. Beds very comfortable.
