????????
I will start with the positive: the staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Laurence deserves particular recognition, and she made a great restaurant recommandation for which I thank her.
I made the mistake of reserving a room in the tower that was described on their website as "chambre prestige duplex, very rare and beautiful". It turned out to be a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures, and the staircase to go up to the bathroom was si shaky it felt like it was about to fall off. Laurence was nice to accommodate us with another room, that was very plain, on the ground level with a glassed door to the courtyard.
The best part about the room was the bathroom which had obviously been nicely renovated. We then had the surprise to find out the heater in that wing of the chateau was not on, so the radiatior in our room didn't work. Luckily there was an electric heater in the front room that allowed us to keep our room habitable.
Another quirk is that Wi-Fi only works in the bar area, in another wing, so we had to walk over across the courtyard to access the internet. When we went there after dark, there was a reception occupying the bar area, so we had to stay in the gallery outside the bar, where the lights work on timers. Every 5 minutes or so we had to walk around in front of the sensor to reactivate the light.
Finally, the 15 Euro charge for breakfast was really a bit steep for what we were offered: for 2 of us, 1 croissant, one pain au chocolat, 2 small pieces of ham and cheese and 3 slices of baguette. A bit of jam, Nutella, juice and coffee of course, but still a bit steep.
We were told that the place had been acquired by new owners fairly recently and they were in the process of doing a complete renovation. One word of advice to them: do not rent any part of the château that is not completely restored and ready to function as you would expect from a 3 star hotel...
This place will be awesome if and when they complete the work. Meanwhile, I would stay away from it!
